Brewing news USA, OH: Akronym Brewing getting closer to opening

Akronym Brewing is getting closer to opening, the Akron Beacon Journal reported on March 21.

The Akron brewery, located downtown at 58 E. Market St., received its state brewing permit last week and hopes to begin brewing this week.

“We’re in good shape now,” co-founder and brewer Shawn Adams said Monday. (March 19)

There’s no definitive opening date yet because the interior is still under construction. Adams would only say “reasonably soon.”

Akronym, which employs a 10-barrel brewhouse, wants to build up its inventory and have seven or eight beers ready to go before opening its doors.

The brewery has committed to serving beer at the fourth annual Rubber City Beer Fest, the Society of Akron Zymurgists’ beer tasting set for April 14 at Lock 3 Park in downtown Akron. So that will likely be the first opportunity for the public to sample the area’s newest craft brewery.
